Member Activities

Meetings
The Medical Society's Board of Governors meets on the second Tuesday of each month to manage Medical Society business.

Several standing and ad hoc committees meet to pursue issues and to prepare responses affecting our physician members and the community.

Membership dinner meetings bring members the opportunity to network and gain mandatory CME.

Several social events are held during the year in conjunction with the Lee County Medical Society Alliance. These include a monthly meet & greets, new members welcome event, a potluck in paradise dinner; and Doctor's Day events. The women physicians group also meets for special events.

State and National Representation
Medical Society delegates represent the interests of members at meetings of the Florida Medical Association (FMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Legislative Advocacy
The Medical Society's Legislative Committee and our elected delegates to the FMA monitor legislation and regulatory activities in Tallahassee and Washington to advocate for the interests of physicians and their patients and to ensure that their views are expressed and taken into consideration during the policy formation process.

Community Advocacy
The Lee County Medical Society constantly monitors issues of public concern in an effort to promote good health and access to affordable health care in the community. Letters to the editor of the local newspapers, guest editorials, are used to address important local medical issues.
