The 2012 Medicare physician payment rates have been extended through December 31, 2013. On January 1, Congress passed the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 averting the negative update of 26.5% required by the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. This zero percent update to the 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule affects Medicare claims with dates of service after December 31, 2012.
